Book launch Political Sociology: The Paradox of Violence

Dr. Leslie Anderson and Dr. Juliana Restrepo Sanin are speaking at a book launch for the book, The Paradox of Violence in Venezuela. (published 2022). This is a book of political sociology with a lot of information about living under an authoritarian regime and coping with the total breakdown of democratic institutions. Smilde is a very well-known sociologist and the Favrot Professor of Human Relations at Tulane. Veronica Zubillaga is an Associate Professor at Simón Bolívar University in Caracas and has written a fantastic chapter on life without gun control. Rebecca Hanson is a faculty member in Sociology and Criminology here at UF. All 3 editors will be at the event. The book launch will be next Thursday, October 26 at 4 pm in the Friends of Music Room which is in the University Auditorium. Here is a chance to break out of your political science niche and see what sociology can teach us (a lot!).
