Matthew Uttermark is an Assistant Professor of American Politics who studies federalism, public administration, and policy. His teaching experience encompasses courses on the policy process, policy implementation and evaluation, subnational politics, and quantitative methods. His work has been published or is forthcoming in Public Administration Review, Policy Studies Journal, Social Forces, Public Opinion Quarterly, and Publius: The Journal of Federalism, among others. Much of his research explores how gender-racial disparities influence an administrator’s experiences and behavior within their workplace. Other projects have applied partisan federalism theory to better understand blame attribution and administrative behavior. Prior to joining the department Dr. Uttermark was previously an Assistant Professor at Binghamton University.
