Richard Kweitsu is a PhD candidate in the Department of Political Science, specializing in Comparative Politics with a focus on African Politics. Richard holds a BA in Political Science from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and an MSc in International Development and Development Management and Evaluation from the University of Birmingham and the University of Antwerp. Richard’s research examines why political actors contest election outcomes through legal channels and their consequences for democratic processes, drawing on an original dataset of presidential election petitions across Africa since 1990, combining case analysis with elite interviews in Ghana, Kenya, and Malawi.
