Juliana Mucci is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Department of Political Science at the University of Florida. She studies electoral behavior, election administration, and broadly, what factors of individuals’ political lives shape their political attitudes and behavior. Her dissertation, “Malleable Duty,” explores how individuals’ feelings of civic duty change over time and in response to their political experiences and contexts, challenging the orthodox notion that it is a stable feeling that uniformly influences political behavior. She has experience in teaching one of the university’s civic literacy requirement courses and introductory Political Science courses, American Federal Government, in both in-person and online formats. Ms. Mucci has also had the opportunity to teach in the Honors Program’s (Un)Common curriculum, in which she developed a course centered around exploring Ira Levin’s 1972 novel The Stepford Wives with a small group of students.
