Amie Kreppel is a Jean Monnet Chair (ad personam) and the founding Director of the Jean Monnet Center of Excellence (JMCE) at the University of Florida (2007- present). She also served as the founding Director of the University of Florida’s Title VI funded Center for European Studies (CES) from 2003-2011 and again from 2017 through 2023. She is a Professor in the Department of Political Science. Dr. Kreppel has written extensively on the political institutions of Europe in general and the European Union and Italy more specifically. Her publications include a book on the Development of the European Parliament and Supranational Party System (2002), and two edited volumes on Politics in Italy (2014) and Decision Making in the EU (2015), as well as articles in a wide variety of journals including Comparative Political Studies, the British Journal of Political Research, European Union Politics, the European Journal of Political Research, Political Research Quarterly, the Journal of European Public Policy, the Journal of Common Market Studies and the Journal of European Integration.
Dr. Kreppel was a Public Policy Scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington DC and has served as international visiting faculty at the Université Louis Pasteur (ULP), Strasbourg, France, Institut für Höhere Studien (Vienna), the l'Institut d'Etudes Européennes, Université Libre Bruxelles (ULB) and at the LUISS Guido Carli University in Rome. In spring 2011 she was a Fernand Braudel Senior Fellow at the European University Institute (EUI) and in 2016 she was the Fulbright-Schuman Chair at the College of Europe, Bruges, Belgium. She served as Co-Editor of the Italian Political Science Review from 2014-2018 and is a past President of the Conference Group on Italian Politics. From 2011- 2013 she served as the President of the European Union Studies Association (EUSA) and currently sits on the steering committee of the European Consortia for Political Research Standing Group on the European Union (ECPR-SGEU). She has received numerous grants to pursue research and program development related to Europe and the European Union including two internal research grants from the University of Florida and Title VIa (UISFLP) and Title VI (NRC) grants from the United States Department of Education, as well as Jean Monnet Chair, Module and Center of Excellence awards from the European Union.
