Current UF students wishing to change to the political science major must meet the following major requirements by the end of their fourth tracking semester. Students interested in the political science major should meet with an academic advisor in the CLAS Academic Advising Center in Farrior Hall to discuss the possibility of changing majors to political science.
- Maintain a 2.0 UFGPA;
- Complete 3 of 4 political science critical-tracking courses (INR2001, CPO2001, POS2041, POT2002) and STA 2023 with a minimum grade of C;
- Maintain a 3.0 GPA in the above courses.
For information on admissions for transfer students, please see the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences’ transfer admissions guidelines. To be competitive for transfer admission to the political science major, it is recommended that students meet Universal Tracking requirements for Term 4 (as referenced above), if all of those courses are available at their current institution. However, these are minimum course requirements and do not guarantee admission, as transfer admission is competitive and admission is based on space availability. Additional information on requirements for admission can be found here and requirements for the major can be found here.
